Justin Bieber Takes ADHD Medicines

Justin Bieber has a problem concentrating on things, the singer revealed himself during an interview for GQ magazine. He confessed taking medications for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) for past one year and claims to have “enjoyed it.”


The 21-year-old singer revealed that he depends on an ADHD medication called Adderall to enhance his ability to concentrate, reports The Mirror. In addition, he confessed relying on a stimulant to keep him focused throughout the day.


During his chat with the magazine, Bieber said that he has taken the medications for about a year now. However, he plans to quit the drugs since he believes, that it makes him anxious. The Sorry singer further revealed that he is planning to replace Adderall with “natural sleep aids.”


“This is my first day off Adderall,” said Bieber during the interview. “I’ve been getting a lot of anxiety, and they think it’s stemming from the Adderall. That’s why I’ve stopped taking it. Or else I wouldn’t stop, because I really enjoy it.”



What is ADHD?


ADHD is a common type of mental disorder that affects children and may continue up to adulthood. According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), children suffering from ADHD find it hard to pay attention to control their impulsive behavior. They may show inattention, impulsive behavior or hyperactivity. This sough of behavior tends to impact the academic, personal and professional life of the sufferer.



What causes ADHD?


The cause of ADHD can be genetic or non-genetic. In a majority of cases, the disorder runs in the family. However, a test for confirming the genetic role of the condition is not available as yet. Some of the non-genetic factors include a history of neglect, abuse, low birth weight, birth complications, social deprivation, exposure to toxic substances and use of dyes and additives that worsen hyperactivity.
